RB, I think he started wearing that when a beam fell out the ceiling at the old pit and hit him in the head.

Hardhat used to cut meat in the old days. He has been wearing it ever since. He has several as people has given him gifts. One was even painted up with flowers (though he never wears it). Everytime he walks out the door he puts on his hardhat. He lives one mile from the Texoma pit (now closed) An Illinois transplant 27 years ago he had been fighting Pure Wisconsin Shufflers with his partner Harry Young (now aged 92) It was my good fortune to meet and become friends with both of these gentlemen and also Hardhat's son Wes, and his grandson Wade. By the way, Hardhat just celebrated his 81st birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOUNG MAN!
