All the photos in the Gallery are Watermarked because we didn't like the idea of some users abusing the resources of this site. Meaning that some users were posting their photos in this gallery and just linking to them from their freebie website. This allowed them to post more pictures on their site than they were originally allowed, and allowed them to use our bandwidth instead of the freebie sites which meant THEIR pages loaded faster while slowing down OUR site.

In itself .. this probably wouldnt have been that big of a problem, but we also found some of the members pictures from this site on another gallery with someone else posting them as their own fowl. With the watermarks, if someone does copy the pictures, it will be obvious that they are hosted by us and were "borrowed".

Good to see ya keepin on top of those Bad apples Cotton its a rippa site and needs protectin, But couldnt ya place a transperant Watermark over pics that dont obstruck the veiw of bird?why spoil these great pics cos of the actions of a few pricks?
    #12 December 3, 2004 6:44am

Well, now the users know that there will be watermarks on the picture ... Why not just delete this photo, then upload a new one without cropping so much of the top off? That way you can allow for the watermark. As for the transparent watermark ... great idea ... only problem is that in order to save the transparency while KEEPING it transparent, it has to be saved in a .png or .psd format and overlaying that type of image over these pictures would make for huge file sizes that will take a long time to load.

I do have to commend the inginuity of several users on this site for cropping their pictures so close .. it allows them to upload more images that the other user who has so much wasted space in the images. Sporty, its a great looking cock, in the future just allow enough head room to support the watermark.

Nice rooster Sporty, I agree with RB, its hard to take your eye off him. I think we all appreciate how you handle things Cotton: a professional manner, you are what I call a straight shooter,no BS and you take the time to explain why things are the way they are. This site will be here for as long as you allow us to visit, thanks VLS Farms
